Fridays Are for Friends - Erika's Fun Layout!

I just love all the action and activity in the photos on this layout.  Look at the way Anafrancina's hair is just flowing every which way as she runs and dangles!  My favorite part is how Erika's use of the colored 1" tiles really plays up the colors in the layout and the "motion" of the pictures.

Two Chances to Make this Awesome Disney Layout!

I will be offering this Disney layout as my second layout in a "double-header" class at Red Letter Journals in Grove City, Ohio this Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 1-3 p.m.  http://www.redletterjournals.com/  Please contact the store directly to reserve your seat.  The other layout on that date is the pool layout shown below from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Another Star Pupil - Toni Bamonte!

My very newest student, Toni Bamonte, took her first mosaic class (Riley the Moose) on June 30, 2012 at Stamping Buddies in Cincinnati.  I gave her my rant about "use this, don't just put in on a shelf or in a closet and forget it!"  :) 

She went home and created this AMAZING layout.  I mean, seriously, this is her very first solo effort and I absolutely LOVE it.  I love the colors, the photos, the paper choice . . . everything.  Thanks for sharing, Toni.  Well done!!!

I'm beaming like a proud parent right now, seriously!  I love to see folks putting their mosaic skills to use.  Can't wait to see more.

Design Team Challenge - Early Bird

One of my Design Team challenges was "Take pictures outdoors in early morning light. Let the light and shadows inspire you. Create a page with your photos. Note the time of day photos were taken on your page (ie 6:00 AM.)"

Fridays Are for Friends - Tammy Binford!

As some of you may know, I have worked at some scrapbook conventions this year in Tami Potter's Mosaic Moments booth.  One of the things that really shocked me was how many folks would come up and say "I bought the mat and paper last year (or X years ago), but I've never used it." 

This just broke my heart for two reasons.  First, because, of course, since I discovered mosaics I can't get enough!  But, second, because it is one of those "use it or lose it skills" - the more often you do a mosaic layout, the more intuitive the measurements and counting become and the faster they just roll out of your brain and onto the page.  (Of course, you can always get a refresher course from me or on Tami Potter's blog!)

Tammy Binford is one of my star pupils because she took her mat and grid paper home (well, actually to the Crop a Doodle Do Scrapbooking Retreat in Arcadia, Indiana) and whipped up this GORGEOUS page!  Thanks, Tammy for letting me share!  You made my day!

August 19 - Class at Stamping Buddies in Cincinnati

On Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 1:30-3:30 p.m., I will be offering this Cincinnati Reds themed mosaic class at Stamping Buddies in Cincinnati for $20.

Upcoming Class at Red Letter Journals - Grove City, OH

On July 28, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, I will be teaching this pool layout class at Reletter Journals.  When I asked for layout theme suggestions from my May students at RLJ, "pool "was one of their suggestions.  I tried to keep this layout very basic so that there is lots of room for jazzing it up.  that way you can use it for swim lessons, diving competition, swim meets, or just kicking it in the pool, just by adding your own embellishments to any of the squares. 

Keep an eye out right here because I'll be posting a second class layout for July 28, 2012, as well.  We're having a double-header that day!  :)
