November 19th is "International Men's Day"
Today is International Men's Day (isn't every day, really?) Here's a blip about the day taken from the Days of the Year site:
"International Men’s Day was created in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. The main purpose of the day is to focus on the health of males. Other aspects of the day include improving gender relations, showing that men can be positive role models, and promoting gender equality.
Here are a couple of Manly Man layouts I have made working with a theme of "elements" (wood, stone, etc.):
Anyway, I thought I would share a blog from Mosaic Moments about making Masculine Mosaics:

Over eighty countries celebrate Man Day, but it’s not always been like this. Most countries on the list such as the United States and the United Kingdom have only recently started to promote the day.
If you want to take part in events, look on-line to find one of many groups gathering together to have fun. Most places will have fun events with a “manly” theme, such as wrestling and rodeo bull riding.
Some years, the coordinators of Man Day suggest a secondary theme to be taken into consideration. Although it’s not needed to follow these themes, most countries do as they allow each country to feel as if they’re part of something bigger."

November 12th is World Architecture Day
Today is World Architecture Day. So, I thought we could start out by looking at "building" your scrapbook pages. Here is Tami Potter's Blog on Scrapbook Page Design, which I think you will find inspiring.
But let's also take a moment to think about taking pictures of architectural elements such as stained glass, carvings, bricks, etc. to add texture and dimension to our mosaics.
And lastly, please remember that there is a subcategory of cornerstones available for purchase from Minerva Mosaics (Debbi's) Snap-n-Crop Shopping Link. The are listed as "architectural" cornerstones and are available in several color combinations. Here are some samples:

Veteran's Day
We all know that our country's military veterans deserve all the fanfare we can spare. I thought Veteran's Day would be a good opportunity to share Mosaic Moments Tips for Banners, Borders and Buntings:

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
In the Mexican culture, November 1st is known as Dia de los Muertos and is a time to celebrate those who have parted. Here is a little bit of info: Dia de los Muertos. I thought I would take this chanceto share a layout that I did using pictures taken at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
