UPCOMING CLASS - Mosaic Moments 4x4 Corner Die Layout

This page pattern will be the class layout.  It is made using the new 4x4 Corner Die Set, which retails for $33.99.

This class will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Loveland United Methodist Church.  10975 S. Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140.  There is a "No Frills Crop" going on that day from 10:00 am to 9:00 p.m. for only $5 to crop all day.  Details about the crop are found on the Cropportunities FB group under the events tab.

Preregistration and prepayment are REQUIRED.

You will pay $40 and I will provide:

1) class instruction and layout samples;

2)  the base grid paper (your choice from the colors I have on hand).  In the sample that I have shared, this is the RED paper that is used for the background;

3) the 4x4 Corner die set – a $34 value (before tax and shipping) - YOURS TO KEEP after class;

4) the use of my border dies (where the hearts are in this pic) – I will have sunflower border, star border, etc. available to lend you for your use.  We’re also hoping that some of Jamie Green’s CM Border Maker cartridges will prove useful in this regard, as well.

You MUST bring the following:

1)         Your own photos!  Your subject matter may be any other topic of your choice. Pay attention to the arrangement of the photos as you plan your own layouts and select the photos you wish to use – notice how the pieces are placed and keep the shape in mind as you make your selections.  Bring more images than you think you will need.  It is better to have choices when it comes to fitting the pics in the dies and on the grid.  You may also wish to bring double prints in case you make any mistakes.  4x6" prints are recommended, although you may wish to go with some 5x7s depending on the scale/positioning of the people in the photos.  It is NOT recommended that you purchase the "true" ratio prints that come out to be like 5.??" long as those may not fit the layout.

2)         Your own colored cardstock that coordinates with your photos.  In the sample that I have shared, this is the WHITE paper that frames the individual photos.    

3)         Your own Big Shot or similar die cutting machine with platforms, plates, etc. for cutting wafer-thin dies.  Two people may share if you don’t have your own but I honestly don’t recommend it as it will slow you both down.

4)  Your own adhesive - Mosaic Moments recommends Herma Dotta repositionable adhesive.

You may also choose to bring some additional colored or patterned cardstock that works with the theme of your photos.

PAYMENT:

REGISTER EARLY!!!!  I have purchased five sets of dies for this class.

1)         If you are one of the first five people to register and pay, you will make payment directly to me.  PM me for Paypal details.

2)         If we have 9 or more students registered and paid before March 22, 2019, I will place an order on that date.

3)         If we have more than five students but less than nine, or if payment is not received by March 22, 2019, you will need to purchase your own dies through the link on my blog, and you will be responsible for paying for shipping.  I will post updates in the Cropportunities event as to registration numbers and specific instructions on ordering.

Here are details about the Die set that is included in the cost of the class - YOURS TO KEEP:

Mosaic Moments Corners 4x4 die set contains 3 dies.

The Large die cuts two corners that each cover 1/2 of a 4x4 square on the Mosaic Moments Grid Paper.

This set also includes 2 layering corner dies.

Corners can be placed behind or on top of your photos or use them to create zig zags, chevrons or other unique designs. See photos above for ideas.

Die measures 4.375" x 4.375".  This die set needs to be snipped apart.

Mosaic Moments metal dies are designed to work with Mosaic Moments Grid Paper. They will cut paper, card stock, photos and other soft thin materials.

Works in most die-cutting machines designed for cutting thin-metal dies.

Made in the USA.

NOTE: die machines & dies vary. If your machine leaves an embossed ridge try using thinner plates and/or use a stack of cardstock instead of an additional plate.  If the machine does not cut through add one or more sheets of cardstock as a shim until you get the desired result.

Mosaic Moments Page Kit Pop Up Sale ONLINE TONIGHT

This will be an online pop-up sale of Mosaic Moments Page Kits TONIGHT - November 8, 2018 from 7:30 pm. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. .

For those of you not familiar, with Mosaic Moments Page kits, they are page kits that are put together on the Mosaic Moments grid paper. Everything but the pictures is provided and you do not need to cut any of the pieces - it is all pre-measured and cut. Just assemble them according to the photo on the package and add your own photos.

1. Starting at 7:30 tonight, I will post a picture of a page kit. Page kits will be $13 each. If you purchase 3 or more, the price goes down to $12 each for all page kits you purchase..

Unless otherwise stated, I only have ONE of each item that will be fore sale.

November 10 2018 classes at Stamping Buddies Craft Room

1:00 - Introduction to Mosaic Moments - Count and Cut Technique

I've decided to open up an introductory Mosaic Moments technique class for the November 10, 2018 date. The 2:00 class will be solely focused on the dies - with only a very brief review of the count-and-cut basic technique. So this 1:00 p.m. class will be for true beginners who are not familiar with the technique for those who are a little rusty and want a refresher course. We will make a couple of quick samples just to familiarize you with the technique. For this class you will need the following:

I will supply the grid paper base, the instruction and some small freebies for you (quick glance cutting guide and a lil chizler tool). We’ll have some giveaways for people in this 1:00 class and the 2:00 class. I’ll have some sample photos available for you to “play” with (although you’re welcome to bring your own)!

YOU must bring these items to the 1:00 introductory class:

-Mosaic Moments Cutting Mat – available for purchase from Stamping Buddies (513-891-CRFT) or through the snapncrop link to the right here on this blog.  Please shop with Stamping Buddies first and if her supply runs out, use the website link. If you purchase from Pam or from my blog in conjunction with this event, let me know and you’ll receive two free pieces of grid paper from me.

- Herma Dotto Repositionable Adhesive (yes, THIS adhesive – the cutting mats were DESIGNED to work with this adhesive).

- Craft Knife – you want the “full size” craft knife, not one with a tiny blade.

- Cork-backed Metal ruler. I prefer the 15” for when I’m working on 12” paper, but the 12” will work. I will have a limited quantity of these available for sale that day.

The cost of this class is $10.

 

For the 2:00 p.m. class - please read the description for each class.  YOU MUST bring your own photos so your finished project won't look exactly like mine.  This is a pattern class that offers you the opportunity to "try it before you buy it" with some of the new dies.  

2:00 Option 1 - Pie Die Bundle and pattern (Candy Corn sample)

This page pattern will be ONE of the class layouts. There will be several options and you can choose to do as many or as few as you would like. Each layout will be $10.

This candy corn class sample is from the pie Bundle die set. ($63)

You will pay $10 and I will provide:

1) the base grid paper (your choice from the colors I have on hand);
2) one sheet of 12x12 solid cardstock or two sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock from the stock available in the store) for the background (like the black on this sample);
and
3) the use of my dies - the two used to make this layout will be at this station for this $10 fee.

If you wish to do this as candy corn, as pictured, let me know so I will have the candy corn pics and candy corn colored pie pieces.

You MUST bring your own photos because you will need the dies to cut your photos so this won’t be a typical class where you add the pics later.

Your subject matter may be candy corn or any other topic of your choice. Pay attention to the arrangement of the photos as you plan your own layouts and select the photos. My candy corn layout was done solely with 4x6. I used 3 of the closeup candy corn pics and 7 other photos.

 

2:00 option 2 - DIAMOND MINE (sunflower sample) Dies and Patterns

This page pattern will be ONE of the class layouts. There will be several options and you can choose to do as many or as few as you would like. Each layout will be $10.

This sunflower 🌻 class sample below is from the diamond mine die set.

You will pay $10 and I will provide:

1) the base grid paper (your choice from the colors I have on hand);
2) one sheet of 12x12 solid cardstock or two sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock from the stock available in the store) for the background (like the golden yellow on this sample);
and
3) the use of my dies - the three used to make this layout will be at this station for this $10 fee.

You MUST bring your own photos because you will need the dies to cut your photos so this won’t be a typical class where you add the pics later.

Your subject matter may be sunflowers or any other topic of your choice. Pay attention to the arrangement of the photos as you plan your own layouts and select the photos. My sunflower layout was done solely with 4x6 but I might recommend a 5x7 for the largest opening in the center.

   

I hope to offer a total of four layout options in the 2:00 class so stay tuned for further samples.  Each station / option will be a separate $10 fee so you can choose to do as many or as few as you like.

Please plan to bring your big shot with the appropriate platforms, etc for thin metal dies.  I only have two big shots available for the whole class so bringing your own will really speed things up.

Hippity Hoppity . . . Easter's On It's Way

I am feeling really inspired by some images I found online of these vibrant Easter eggs:

I thought now might be a good time to revisit some of my Easter favorites of years past.

Andrea Fisher, a Mosaic Moments Design Team member wrote a great blog about Easter Layouts that contains some great tips for making the most of you Easter Mosaic layouts.

This was my first attempt at a woven layout a few years ago.  The right side was easy - I just wove 1" strips on the grid.  The left side got a little tricky!  I inked around all the edges to give it a more realistic basket weave look.  And I used a Stampin Up border punch to punch out the floral patterned paper that makes the basket liner.

In another Mosaic Moments blog post, there is a tip for Creating Woven Borders that you may find helpful.   Obviously woven borders lend themselves easily to Springtime layouts, but as you can see from the link, there are other great uses for this weaving technique.

In the layout below, my nephew had dyed his entire carton of eggs blue.  I used some BoBunny stickers for the effects, but tried to concentrate on the beautiful blue eggs to keep the focus on the memory!

The layout below features a Hot Off the Press patterned paper and a stamp and this layout was for a class I taught last Spring at a local scrapbook store.

This last layout was for a class I taught at the home of a Close to My Heart consultant so the solid color photo mats are CTMH papers.  The photos are my own and I just used some scraps of ribbon.  The basket die cut was from Stampin Up, as was the chocolate bunny stamp.  I hope this layout shows how you can mix and match your favorite elements to make the layout truly your own.
