NEW CLASS OFFERING - SEW EASY

The Mosaic Moments system focuses on showcasing your photos more than embellishments and "do-dads" used in more traditional scrapbooking, but that doesn't mean you can't spice it up a bit and add your own bling.  This class will include the materials needed to create this layout and stitch on your pages - including the needle, thread, and templates.  Cost is $16 (starter tool kit to be purchased separately).

NEW CLASS OFFERING - STAMP THIS WAY

Another fun way to brighten up your mosaics is by incorporating stamps.  This Tami Potter CKC layout uses bright, fun colors of patterned paper, mixed with stamped elements.  The class will include stamps, 3 ink colors and a mounting block.  If you're new to scrapbooking in general, this class would be a great way to learn several techniques in one great class!  Cost is $36 (starter tool kit sold separately).

NEW CLASS OFFERING - FALLING FOR FALL PANORAMIC CLASS

Do you have some panoramic photos that you've been dying to scrap?  This may be the layout for you.  Tami Potter focuses on some beautiful fall scenery pictures in this layout.  In her book, Tami talks about how creating mosaics changes the way you take pictures.  It helps shift your focus and cue you in to the smaller details that sometimes get overlooked in your photos and in your layouts.  She explains how, by keeping the horizon line consistent, you can line up a series of photographs to create a mosaic.  I would love to share her ideas with you.  If you're intrested in this class, it's only $13 (starter tool kit sold separately!)

LET'S GET STARTED WITH MOSAICS!

This is the 14x14" cutting mat that is the core of the Mosaic Moments system. This self-healing mat is different from other cutting mats that you may have because it measures everything in 1/8" increments. Mosaic Moments cardstock has 1" squares with 1/8" gaps between the squares so this mat helps to properly measure your mosaic tiles to cover the right number of squares.

Your first class is considered a starter class, and it is slightly more expensive because it supplies you with the basic tool kit that you will need to create mosaics. The starter class costs approximately $40 and includes the following items (plus shipping and tax):

Cutting Mat ($24.99)

Paper Pack ($7.95) (you will have 4 sheets left over after the 2 page class layout)

Lil Chizzler tool ($3.49)

Quick Glance Cutting Guide ($3.49) - I supply this to thank you for attending/hosting a party

The tools you will need to bring are as follows:

- Craft Knife (Tami Potter recommends a Fiskers Coastal craft knife, but any that you are comfortable with is fine. If you would like me to order one for you in advance, the cost is $6.49) You will not use a traditional paper trimmer because, again, it's all about the measurements! Everything is done with the craft knife and the mat.

- Hermadot Removable/Repositionable Adhesive (available at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, etc. - or I can order one for you in advance for $12) - this adhesive is a necessary part of the process and substitutes just won't work!)

- cork backed or non-slip metal ruler (Tami Potter recommends 15" size, I can order one for $6.49)

You may also order any of these items, as well as base cardstock, decorative cornerstones, etc. at any time from the SnapNCrop link to the right.

I look forward to doing business with you.

Sharing This AWESOME Mosaic

I'm sorry for my absence from this blog lately.  Life got in the way of scrapbooking for a bit!  :)

However, I have been dying to share this awesome mosaic that Tracy created using pictures of her son and husband flying kites on the beach.  I absolutely love all the sand and sky tiles and how they play up the vibrant primary colors of the kites, themselves.  The layout design is really awesome with the kites flying overhead.  I usually post friends on Friday, but I couldn't wait any longer to share this awesome layout!  (Plus, it REALLY helps to think about being on the beach in February, doesn't it?)

Techniques - Easter Basket Mosaic

This is a very simple, but time-consuming process - I cut my 1/2 and 1" strips, inked all the edges, and wove them into a basket weave pattern.  I shared this on Journella, as well, so you can see some close-up details and get more of the background story.  Check it out!

Hip Hip Hooray - Time to Cheer for Me!

This layout (and the story behind it) can be found on Journella.  I submitted it as my February 6 Design Team Challenge.  The "requirements" of the DT challenge were to tell the story of something that I (or my family) do when stuck inside in the winter and to use 2 1/8" squares as a prominent element.

Please follow this link for close-up shots of my machine stitching and be sure to CHEER for me!
