May 28 - Design Team Challenge - Flag Football Layout

This is my Mosaic Moments Design Team challenge for May 28, 2012.  We were asked to use sunflower paper, page pattern 13 and a quote or poem.  I shared more details about the making of this page and my custom football embellishment on journella.  Check it out and cheer for me.

Kayden's Kindergarten Graduation

I missed my nephew's Kindergarten graduation because I was out of town.  Thankfully, his mommy shared her pictures with me and I was able to include this big moment in his six year-old scrapbook.  Kayden broke my heart when he called to tell me about it - he was just so enthusiastic about this milestone in his life.  I didn't let him know I was sad, just told him how excited I was for him and how I proud I always am of everything he does.

I have always loved these pictures of Kayden blowing bubbles.  Apparently I took an AWFUL picture of this layout though!  I'll have to re-shoot that at some point so you can see that bottom picture!  I built this layout on Spring Green Grid Paper and I used a couple sheets of some bubble patterned paper I had, along with the coordinating rub-ons.  I also added some glassy accents to the big bubble to give it a shiny appearance.  Except for the crummy photo I took of the layout itself, I like the way it turned out.

Aquarium Mosaic - NEW COLOR ALERT

Tami Potter recently retired her Robin's Egg Blue grid paper, which was kind of pastel.  I had used it in the past for Easter egg layouts.   She has now introduced this vibrant blue called Bahama Blue, which comes in a 6 pack (2 sheets each color) with white and sand.  I love the way this color worked out with my Newport Aquarium shots!

Exciting Class Offering at 06/23/12 Crop

Minerva Mosaics is offering a beginning Mosaic Moments class where students learn the basic Mosaic Moments page layout system techniques – including measuring and cutting to fit the grid, photo taking and other tips. The class includes all papers and photos to complete two 12” x 12” pages.  However, if you wish to bring your own Fourth of July photos, I would strongly encourage you to do so.  If you have your own pictures, I can show you the advanced matting technique used to frame the center picture on the left-hand side.  Further, if you bring the photographs so that you can finish your page while at the crop, I am offering some prize drawings!  Students will gain valuable hands-on experience, and will leave the class feeling confident in using the Mosaic Moments system and inspired to create fabulous pages. You will be amazed at how easy the grid system is to use and how creating these great pages takes far less time than you could have ever imagined.

Supplies Provided to Each Student:
            ·  The Mosaic Moments 14” x 14” craft mat
            ·  Photos
            ·  Mosaic Moments Grid Papers
            ·  Cornerstones for embellishing pages
            ·  Paper Tiles and cardstock
            ·  Lil Chizler tool
            ·  Mosaic Moments Quick Glance Guide
Note: If you already have the Mosaic Moments 14”x14” craft mat, bring and use in class instead of the provided mat and receive a $20 credit to spend at the Minerva Mosaics table.

Student supplies needed:
            ·  Herma Dotto REMOVABLE adhesive
            ·  12” or 15” metal ruler with cork or rubber backing
            ·  A good quality craft knife or rotary cutter with sharp blade.
Note: I plan to have only a limited number of each of these items available for sale at the crop so please notify me in advance if you wish to purchase same.

Alicia's Creative Memories Class Layouts for the June 23, 2012 Crop!

Alicia O'Brant, our resident Creative Memories guru, has taken up the trend from all the hot scrapbooking magazines and designed a layout working from a page sketch.  The first page is a Designer Print page as the base and the second page has a white shimmer paper base and uses Designer Solids to create a border with the Border Maker.  You will embellish with paper ribbons, paper flowers and paper buttons.  Alicia will have have coordinating floss to finish off the buttons! The mats and journal boxes are from the storybox. You will have your choice of coordinating sentiment sticker, too!  (Please bring a 12" trimmer and adhesive.)

Also, please remember, Alicia is also willing to offer a digital scrapbooking class using a free downloadable trial version of Creative Memories software if anyone is interested in bringing their laptop to try it out!

Edith's Stampin Up Card Class for the June 23 Crop

Hey Ladies!  Edith just shared these awesome cards that she plans to offer as a Stamp-A-Stack class at our June 23, 2012 crop.  Here's what she has to say:

I do the work, you get the oohs & aahs!

I will be featuring 2 Stampin’ Up Card Classes at the crop morning and afternoon. I design the cards, cut the supplies and assemble into kits.  You stamp and assemble the cards.  The lucky recipients will be wowed with your artistic talent.  You save money over what you would pay for store bought cards.

What does it cost and what kind of cards are we going to make.

Class participants will make 10 cards for $15.00. There will be two each of 5 designs.  We will make 5 birthday cards. The cards at the right are the designs we will be making.  Please visit my website for information about my business and to see samples of other projects.
If for some reason you cannot make your cards, I will make them for you for an additional $5.00 fee.
Please bring your favorite adhesive and scissors to class."

Please remember to pre-register for Edith's class by sending your payment to Shelly Allen at the address on our flyers.  (Email me directly if you need the address!)  Thank you!

Iris Mosaic Class at Stamping Buddies in Cincinnati

Check out this gorgeous iris paper . . . wouldn't it be perfect for Easter pictures or even spring garden pictures?  I know everyone had a lot of early bloomers this year - now you can preserve those memories!  Trust me, the pictures of this paper simply don't do it justice.

I designed this layout for a class I will be teaching at Stamping Buddies in Cincinnati, OH (near the Kenwood Mall) on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

If you're interested registering for this class, please contact the store directly:

As with all Mosaic Classes, you will need the specially designed Mosaic Moments cutting mat (which will be available for purchase at the store), a craft knife, cork-backed metal ruler, and Dotto repositionable adhesive.
Also, be sure to join the "cropportunities" group.  Stamping Buddies will be sponsoring our group in the near future and they will be offering a store discount exclusively for members of the meetup group.
